How homeowners choose an interior designer
Most homeowners save ideas on Instagram and Pinterest for months, then search on Google for designers near their new flat, check reviews, look at portfolios and invite two or three for a site visit. Your marketing needs to show up at both stages: inspiration and the final search.
1. Show real projects, not stock photos
Your best marketing asset is your completed work. Photograph and film every project (with the client's permission): before and after, walkthrough videos, close-ups of materials and finishes. Real projects in known societies, such as Raj Nagar Extension, Indirapuram or Noida Extension, build trust with neighbours.
2. Use Instagram and Facebook ads for discovery
Reels of finished rooms and quick design tips get attention. Run small ads on your best content targeted to people near the areas and societies you work in, and include a clear next step such as "book a free site visit" or "get a 3D design consultation".
3. Capture people searching on Google
When people are ready to hire, they search:
- Search ads for "interior designer near me", "modular kitchen Ghaziabad", "2 BHK interior cost"
- A complete Google Business Profile with plenty of project photos and genuine reviews
- A website with a portfolio page for each project type: kitchens, wardrobes, full homes, offices
4. Qualify leads before the site visit
Site visits take time, so ask a few questions first: property type and size, which rooms, possession date and budget range. A simple form or WhatsApp questionnaire helps your team prioritise serious enquiries.
5. Follow up through a long decision
Interior projects can take weeks to decide. Send helpful follow-ups such as recent projects, material guides and design tips rather than repeated sales calls. An automated WhatsApp sequence keeps you in mind until they're ready.
