Why the choice matters more than the budget
Most businesses in Ghaziabad and Delhi NCR don't fail at digital marketing because their budget was too small. They fail because money went into campaigns nobody measured, leads nobody followed up, and reports that showed likes instead of enquiries.
The right agency is less about a fancy office or a long list of services and more about how they think about your money. This checklist helps you tell the difference in one meeting.
1. Do they ask about your business before talking about ads?
A good first meeting is mostly questions: who your best customers are, what a lead is worth to you, how fast your team replies, and what you've already tried. If an agency jumps straight to a package, they're selling a product, not solving your problem.
2. Who owns the ad accounts and the website?
Your Google Ads account, Meta Business Manager, Google Analytics, Search Console, Google Business Profile and domain should be created in your name, with the agency added as a user. If the relationship ends, you keep your data, your audiences and your history.
Ask this directly. Any hesitation is a red flag.
3. Is ad spend separate from the fee?
Ad spend should be paid by you, directly to Google or Meta, from your own account. The agency's fee covers strategy, setup, creative and optimisation. When the two are bundled, you can't see how much actually reached the platform.
4. What will they report, and how often?
Impressions and reach are easy to inflate. Ask to see a sample report and check that it includes:
- Number of leads (calls, forms, WhatsApp messages) and where each came from
- Cost per lead, and how it moved over time
- Lead quality: how many became customers or site visits
- What was changed this week and why
5. Do they set up conversion tracking first?
Without tracking, nobody knows which keyword, ad or post brought a customer. A serious agency sets up Google Tag Manager, GA4 conversions and call and WhatsApp click tracking before spending your first rupee.
6. Do they promise rankings or guaranteed leads?
No one controls Google's rankings or a buyer's decision. "Page one in 30 days" or "guaranteed 500 leads" are sales lines. What an honest agency can commit to is a clear plan, steady work and transparent numbers.
7. Do they understand your industry's ad rules?
Healthcare, Ayurveda, real estate, finance and education all have advertising restrictions on Google and Meta. An agency that doesn't know them will get your ads rejected or your account flagged. Ask how they handle policy reviews in your category.
8. What happens after the lead arrives?
Most leads are lost after the click, not before it. Ask how leads reach your team, how fast they're answered and whether follow-up messages go out automatically. Speed of reply often matters as much as the ad itself.
9. Can you meet them?
For a local business, being able to visit the agency's office or meet the person who runs your account builds accountability. Ask who will actually work on your campaigns, not just who sold you the deal.
10. How long is the lock-in?
Long contracts protect the agency, not you. Month-to-month work, or a short initial term with clear exit terms, keeps the agency earning your business every month.
A simple way to decide
Shortlist two or three agencies, ask each one these ten questions, and compare the answers side by side. The one that explains things plainly, puts accounts in your name and talks about leads instead of likes is usually the right choice.
