How people choose where to eat
Most people pick a restaurant within minutes: they search "cafe near me" or "best thali in Indirapuram", look at the photos and rating, and check what others say. Others find a place through an Instagram Reel and save it for the weekend.
So your plan needs two things: show up when people search, and look delicious when they scroll.
Step 1: Win on Google Maps
Your Google Business Profile is your most important free tool. Make sure it has:
- The right category, such as "North Indian restaurant" or "Cafe", not just "Restaurant"
- Correct hours, including late-night and festival timings
- Your full menu, with photos of popular dishes
- Dine-in, takeaway and delivery options marked correctly
- Links for ordering and booking a table
- Fresh photos every week
Step 2: Build reviews every day
Restaurants serve many customers daily, so reviews can grow quickly. Put a QR code for your Google review link on the bill or table tent, ask happy guests in person, and reply to every review. Never offer free food in exchange for reviews; that breaks Google's rules.
Step 3: Make Instagram your menu
Food is made for Reels. Easy ideas that don't need a professional crew:
- The cheese pull, the sizzle or the pour
- The chef making your signature dish
- New dishes and weekend specials
- Customers enjoying the food (with their permission)
- A quick tour of your seating, especially if it's great for photos
Step 4: Use delivery apps, but own your customers
Zomato and Swiggy bring orders, and it's worth keeping good photos, ratings and offers there. But commissions add up, and the customer belongs to the app. Encourage direct orders with a WhatsApp number on the packaging and a small offer for ordering directly.
Step 5: Run small local ads at the right time
You don't need a big budget. Promote a Reel or offer to people within a few kilometres, around meal times and weekends. Use Google search ads for high-intent searches such as "party hall" or "catering in Ghaziabad", where one booking can be worth a lot.
Step 6: Bring people back
A regular customer is cheaper than a new one. With their permission, save customers' numbers and send occasional WhatsApp messages about new dishes, festival menus and birthday offers. Keep it occasional and useful, and always let people opt out.
Plan around the local calendar
Festivals, weddings, cricket matches and exam season all change when people eat out in Ghaziabad. Plan menus and offers a couple of weeks early: Navratri thalis, Diwali gift boxes, New Year parties and match-day deals.
