A website's only job is to start conversations
For most local businesses, a website isn't a brochure. It's where someone decides whether to call you. Use this checklist on your own phone, the way your customers see it.
Speed and mobile
Most of your visitors are on a phone, often on mobile data.
- 1. Loads fast on mobile data. Test it with Google PageSpeed Insights and fix the biggest issues first, usually heavy images and too many plugins or scripts.
- 2. Easy to use with one thumb. Buttons are big enough to tap, text is readable without zooming, and nothing spills off the side of the screen.
- 3. No pop-ups that block the page as soon as it opens.
Clear message and action
Visitors decide in seconds whether to stay.
- 4. The first screen says what you do, where, and for whom, in plain words.
- 5. One main call to action on every page: call, WhatsApp, or book a consultation.
- 6. A click-to-call phone number and a WhatsApp button that's always visible on mobile.
- 7. Short forms. Name and phone number are often enough to start; ask for more later.
Trust
People buy from businesses that feel real and local.
- 8. Your full address, a map and opening hours, matching your Google Business Profile.
- 9. Real photos of your work, team or premises instead of stock images.
- 10. Genuine reviews or testimonials, with permission, and any registrations or certifications that matter in your field.
Tracking and SEO basics
If you can't measure it, you can't improve it.
- 11. Google Analytics 4 and Search Console set up, with calls, forms and WhatsApp clicks tracked as conversions.
- 12. Each page has a unique title and description that include the service and city, one clear heading, descriptive image alt text, an XML sitemap and HTTPS.
Where to start
Fix speed and the call-to-action buttons first; they affect every visitor. Then add trust signals and tracking. SEO improvements build over time once the basics are right.
